This forum was created to promote and support the professional development of recruiting professionals throughout the US and beyond.
Participation in the Source and Recruit Forum requires registration. However, all other forums can be viewed by guests.
Important: The forum was established on 11/29/2023 by Matthew Burzon, SHRM-SCP, with early assistance from The Source and Recruit Company team, along with a select group of friends and professional colleagues.
The boilerplate forum terms and conditions can be viewed here. In addition, users must abide by the following:
RULES
Indeed, there are guidelines. This is an exclusive members-only forum, where everyone has consented to adhere to our content and behavior standards. In a private community, the concept of "Free-speech" does not apply. Our rules are straightforward, yet they require a commitment to respecting others and maintaining basic politeness.
Family-Oriented Content (Suitable for All Ages)
Many of our members have young families. They should feel comfortable browsing the forum with their children, without concern over inappropriate content.
No Tolerating Personal Attacks
While it's acceptable to discuss specific issues with vendors or software, outright brand defamation is not permitted. For instance, saying "Microsoft sucks" is inappropriate, but pointing out "the new Microsoft Teams rollout suffers from instability and frequent crashes" is acceptable.
Personal attacks, known as flaming, are strictly prohibited and will be dealt with immediately. However, we do encourage lively, well-informed debates. Flaming occurs when arguments turn personal, involving insults. Debating on specific topics is encouraged, but resorting to calling someone "stupid" crosses the line. It's often observed that when people can no longer argue a point intellectually, they may turn to personal insults or even threats of violence. Demonstrate your intelligence (or maturity) by keeping discussions focused, constructive, and respectful.
Slander
It's not just against this forum's rules to engage in slander; it's often a legal offense, potentially leading to criminal charges. There have been several instances in recent times where forum operators were legally compelled to release information about a member who slandered a person or a company. This is a serious matter! If you plan to make statements about an individual or a company, ensure they are entirely accurate, not overstated, and are based on direct experience or well-substantiated information. The era is over when someone who failed to read instructions or a contract for a product or service can experience issues and then publicly disparage the company.
Political or Religious Threads
Political and religious threads are not permitted on the forum and will be immediately deleted without PM or explanation. Posts in non-political threads that violate this rule will be immediately deleted. The only political or religious threads permitted are ones specific to regional/global recruitment, such as educating other members on the unique cultural, behavioral or language standards in other countries. A thread about recruiting issues in Israel due to geopolitical conflicts and terrorism is fine.
Multiple Usernames
It is against forum rules to have more than one username per individual or company without prior permission.
NO NEGATIVE RACIAL DISCUSSION OR COMMENTS are allowed, and will be immediately moderated.
The Comprehensive Conduct Rule: No Arguments, Trolling, Baiting, Harassment, Wasting Moderators' Time, or Being a Nuisance!
The Source and Recruit Forum is an engaging online community where like-minded individuals can connect, share stories, knowledge, ideas, and experiences about professional sourcing and recruitment. Generally, everyone interacts respectfully, tolerantly, and courteously. But we understand that sometimes, people might slip up from being their best selves. Occasional lapses are understandable, but consistent issues are a concern. Here's what could lead to a ban:
Banning decisions, made solely at the discretion of our moderation team, are serious and respect the valuable time of our volunteer moderators.
Enjoy your time, be kind, and make the most of the SARFO experience!
Guidelines for Commercial Members
Many members of this forum are also owners of commercial companies, many of which cater to hiring teams around the world.
All of the moderators on The Source and Recruit Forum are volunteers. They are here because they enjoy this community. They are not police. Please be respectful of their requests.
Violating the Rules
It is simple. People have bad days, people have hot topics and unfortunately, the internet can make normally lucid people act completely insane.
The Moderator Private Message
Please note that if you breach a forum rule, a moderator will send you a private message (PM) highlighting the specific rule you violated. This message is merely informative and not an open invitation for debate; it's simply a courtesy. Don't be taken aback if the moderator doesn't respond to your reply. Keep in mind, moderators are volunteers, so if the situation is somewhat ambiguous, it's best to accept their decision. Should rule violations become a recurring issue, you may be requested to leave or face a ban.
Banning of Members
Although rare, members of the forum are banned from time to time. This is how the banning process works; think three strikes rule:
Sincere regards,

- Language: We require posts to be in English and prohibit offensive language, which includes anything that wouldn't be said loudly to one's grandmother or in a sacred place. This refers to the usual offensive words. The reason? Our moderators are English-speaking and while they may not personally object to such offensive language, and might even use it occasionally, our forum is a community of professionals from diverse age groups and beliefs. Circumventing our language filters will lead to an initial warning, followed by a 7-day suspension, and eventually a permanent ban if repeated.
- Images: All images must be appropriate, with a strict policy against any pornographic content or links.

Guidelines for Commercial Members
Many members of this forum are also owners of commercial companies, many of which cater to hiring teams around the world.
- If you are not a sponsoring vendor, then solicitation of members via PM or in threads is not appropriate.
- Basically, if it reads like you are trying to sell your product or service in a thread, then you are. Become a sponsor!
- Send statement of interest to [email protected].
- It is acceptable to not be a sponsor, and have a link to your company in your signature line. However, non-sponsors can only have the company name with the link embedded. No multi-line signatures with BUY NOW!

Although rare, members of the forum are banned from time to time. This is how the banning process works; think three strikes rule:
- First Communication: Violation of forum rule will result in a courtesy PM from a moderator requesting a change in action.
- Second Communication: Violating forum rules a second time will result in a seven-day ban.
- Third Communication: Violating forum rules for a second time will result in a 30-day ban.
- Violating the forum rules again will result in a permanent ban.
Sincere regards,
